Islamic Studies

About

Islamic Studies as an academic discipline falls under the umbrella of Social Science and Humanities. Besides the classical Islamic sciences such as Tafsir, Hadith, and Fiqh, the subject attempts to study the whole range of Islamic civilization: its culture and tradition, its art and architecture, its literature and philosophy, its polity and economy, its administration and it's spiritual and scientific tradition. Courses in Islamic Studies at the graduate level provide basic information about Islamic history, the emergence and development of various Islamic sciences, and contemporary Muslim societies. Islamic Studies has been a part of GDC Pulwama's curriculum since 2017. The department has an energetic and erudite faculty to serve its students. Since the department believes that learning is a dynamic process- active interaction between teachers and students- therefore, we focus more on classroom discussions to make the class more lively, engaging, and productive.
