A special lecture on
“Drug DE-Addiction and Rehabilitation” organised by NSS in collaboration with
Seminar and Debate Committee, GDC Women Pulwama on 17th October,
2020. The program was conducted in the Conference Hall under strict
implementation of SOP guidelines. Professor Saima Syed (Assistant Professor, Zoology; NSS Officer-I, GDCWP) presented the ‘Welcome
Address’ in which she highlighted the importance of the topic. Dr. Shahzad Ahmad Wani (Assistant Professor Sociology, GDCW Pulwama)
was the key resource person. The eminent speaker deliberated on the theme “Drug DE-Addiction and Rehabilitation”
in which he highlighted the classification of drugs, their legal and illegal
use, drug dependency; it’s biological, psychological, socio-cultural and
environmental implications. The speaker also discussed about drug de-addiction
and rehabilitation and highlighted the role of government and NGO’s in
providing treatment and behavioural therapies to the addicted people. Dr.
Shahzad ended his presentation by showing a documentary related to the topic. The
program ended with the vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Tariq Ahmad Dar (Assistant Professor, Botany)
